Garage door won’t open
A door that won’t open is most often a broken spring. Next come the opener, the remote or lock switch, and a snapped cable or off-track door.
What to do right now
-
Step 1 Press the wall button once. If the door opens, it’s the remote. -
Step 2 Remote dead? Check the wall button’s lock, then try a new battery. -
Step 3 Wall button does nothing? Check the opener’s plug and your breaker. -
Step 4 Heard a loud bang? Leave the door closed and call (925) 351-0800.

Common questions
Can I open the door by hand to get my car out?
Not if a spring is broken. A split coil over the door, or a spring hanging loose, means one snapped: leave the door closed and call us. If the springs and cables look whole and the door is fully closed, you can pull the red release cord and open the door by hand.
How much does it cost to fix a door that won’t open?
A broken spring starts at $249, opener repair at $199 and cable or off-track repair at $219. If it’s the remote or the lock switch, you may not need us at all. You’ll know the exact price at the door, before work begins.
