Garage door off track or crooked

A crooked door usually means a lift cable snapped or slipped on one side. Next come a bump from a car, worn rollers that jumped the track, and a bent track.

What to do right now

  1. Step 1 Unplug the opener at the ceiling so nobody can run the door.
  2. Step 2 Leave the door where it stopped. Pushing it back can twist the sections.
  3. Step 3 Kids, pets and cars stay out of the doorway until a tech has fixed it.
  4. Step 4 Note which side hangs lower. The tech will ask when you call.

When to call us

Call as soon as you see it. A door out of its track carries its weight unevenly and can come down, so leave it to a tech. Every day, 7 AM to 9 PM.

Common questions

Can I fix an off-track door myself?

Please leave it for us. Springs and cables still hold the door under high tension, and a crooked door can shift or drop mid-repair. Unplug the opener, keep the doorway clear and call (925) 351-0800.

What does off-track garage door repair cost?

Off-track repair starts at $219. That covers setting the door back in its tracks, resetting the cables and a test run. New cables, a bent section of track or worn rollers raise it.
